Hypochristmutreefuzz

BIO

Hypochristmutreefuzz is one of the most daring bands from Ghent, Belgium. This five-headed group formed around singer Ramses Van den Eede has built an immense live-reputation in no time thanks to their powerful grooves, tamed chaos and irresistible hooks. Their most notable passages, amongst others, were Pukkelpop and Leffingeleuren.

They recorded their debut album Hypopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia (2017) with Jasper Maekelberg (Faces On TV, Warhaus). This release did not go unnoticed, the record doesn’t sound as what you would expect from a sensational live band. In a music productional way they managed to stamp their own mark on the Belgian louder scene, which resulted in excellent national and international reviews.

“Raketkanon are merely the tip of the Flemish iceberg, too. There are a dozen
kindred groups, including the Hickey Underworld, Dans Dans, Drums Are For Parades, Steak Number Eight and Hypochristmutreefuzz.” ‘Hypochristmutreefuzz’s debut EP includes a track called Stairway To Heaven that sounds less like Led Zep than the Jesus Lizard entering a demented circus-orgy, ringmastered by Gibby Haynes of Butthole Surfers.’
(THE GUARDIAN)

“Hypochristmutreefuzz are the latest chapter in that long tome of rock ‘n’ roll weirdos that dates back from Beefheart, through Pere Ubu, The Residents, Butthole Surfers and Mr Bungle to the new cream of Belgian noise-rock pioneers.”
(THE QUIETUS)

“Like when you hit an asshole in the face, this band is the moment of impact, when your fist hits the cheekbone.”
